Our activities include: after-school groups for young people exploring media and technology, a diverse programme of events and workshops, and regular making courses at our digital manufacturing space KWMC: The Factory.

An urgent discussion about the future of learning with radical thinkers and practitioners.

The world is changing fast. What skills will the next generation need? How can working-class communities shape what's next?Join community leaders, educators and creative thinkers to explore how creativity, digital skills, and local knowledge can open up real job opportunities. From design to coding, gaming to storytelling - new career pathways exist, but who is benefiting?We will explore what’s already working, who’s making it happen, and what more we can do together. All welcome – come to join the conversation or just listen.Free dinner included. Donations are welcome if you’re able, but everyone is warmly invited to join us and eat for free - no contribution needed. <h4>Speakers:</h4>Mother Cyborg – Artist, technologist, community organiser and educator. She recently completed a fellowship with the ESRC Centre for Sociodigital Futures and mini-residency at KWMC.Zara Nanu MBE – Serial entrepreneur and Professor in Practice at University of Bristol, using tech and data to close pay gaps and create fairer workplaces.Coral Manton – Artist-technologist, design researcher, lecturer, Director of the Centre for Creative Technology at Bath School of Design, Co-Director of Control Shift and Co-Founder of Women Reclaiming AI. She is also currently a MyWorld Fellow in residence at KWMC, supported by Watershed.Carolyn Hassan – Founder of KWMC, driving citywide/international projects to shape resilient, creative, and socially just futures.Noomi Yates – Filmmaker passionate about creating opportunities and opening doors for emerging local talent.Sarah Franke – Children’s Programme Manager at Trinity Community Arts and lead of Cultural Alliance Programme, bringing the Arts to the curriculum for children who attend Trinity’s hyper-local Primary schools.Derek Tanner – Enterprise Development Manager at Black South West Network, supporting global majority-led businesses. <h4>Schedule:</h4>6-6.30pm: Arrival and view the Foundations of the Future Exhibition6.30-7.30pm: Speakers presentations7.30-8pm: Panel discussion and Q&amp;A8-9pm: Dinner (Vegan Dahl by Herbivore) <h4>More info:</h4>This special event is part of a series bringing to life our <a href="https://kwmc.org.uk/whats-on/sessions/fftf-exhibition/" title="https://kwmc.org.uk/whats-on/sessions/fftf-exhibition/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">‘Foundations for the Future: KWMC past and present</a>’ exhibition. The exhibition charts 29 years of KWMC; curated by KWMC founder Carolyn Hassan and team. The exhibition remains open 9:30-5pm Monday to Friday until the end of 2025.
