Hosted by the University of Birmingham Medical School and the School of Education, this one-day symposium supports healthcare educators in enriching Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) training for health professionals and the NHS.

We’ll draw on the expertise of professionals in education, group relations, trauma support, peacebuilding, reconciliation, and related fields. The day will include presentations, discussions, and group work.

Aims of the Day:

Explore innovative EDI approaches that encourage open, psychologically safe dialogue around complex identity issues (e.g., India/Pakistan, Israel/Palestine, gender identity), using the concept of shadow work.
Build skills for facilitating group dialogue that deepens awareness and care for colleagues and patients.
Co-create an advisory report to guide future educational initiatives.
