POSTPONED - Marjon Inaugural Lecture: Learning is messy...

It seems that everyone has a view on education, what we should learn and how we should learn it. People have tried to identify the learning panacea, that single factor that must happen, or must be present, for learning to take place. Assumptions are made about the order in which knowledge is gained or skills are learned; you must do a before you can do b.  The problem? The learning processes are far messier than that.  Maybe our analysis of learning also needs to be messy.
Professor Ian Luke shares insights from his life as well as his work and research in education, to showcase the complexities of learning. He questions assumptions about learning and suggests an holistic focus on people and values is crucial for developing resilience within, and passion for, learning. 
Doors open at 17:45 with the lecture starting at 18:00, followed by a drinks & canapes reception at 19:00
On arrival please come to the main reception. Car Parking is free on campus.
