Leaves Canal Walk - Kings Cross - Primrose Hill

Leaves Canal Walk - Kings Cross - Primrose Hill

Canalside Green StepsLondon, England
Saturday, Jan 24, 2026 from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm GMT
Overview

A 2-hour walk along the Regents canal, starting and ending at Kings Cross, with some canal history, and a bit of seasonal Welsh mythology

Before the walk, I'll add you to a Whatsapp group so I can keep track of who is attending and make sure we're all together to set off! I'll be at the Canalside Green Steps, which are on the South side of Granary Square, by 10:20am, and will send you a photo of me and where I am so you can find me =) we'll then aim to set off by 10:40am at the latest (message if you're running late!)

We will walk from Kings Cross westwards along the canal, passing through Camden and Regents Park. We'll then go by the Regents Park boating lake (and take a toilet stop, perhaps a coffee stop) before walking up Primrose Hill to look at the view. The walk will then head back along the canal to Kings Cross.

The walk will be on the 24th, but on the 25th it's Dydd Santes Dwynwen (Saint Dwynwen's day), the Welsh equavalent of St Valentine's day, so when we get to Primrose hill we'll share the story of Saint Dwynwen as we look over the view. There'll also be some factoids about the history of the 19th century Regents Canal!

The walk is very flat, aside from the Primrose hill section which has a bit of a climb. We'll be on paved/concrete paths, so it's unlikley to be very muddy, but make sure your clothes and shoes work for the weather on the day (we'll be walking, come rain or come shine!)

I will come with some fruit, cereal bars and sugary bits - feel free to bring your own snacks/beverages/thermos too.

You're more than welcome to join for just a part of it if you like - Kings Cross to Regents Park or the other way round. We can stay in touch and make sure the timings work.
