<H2 CLASS="p1">What is it?</H2>
<P>Supported by DWP, #homelesshack is a 2-day hackathon to tackle issues around homelessness in Leeds and help those facing it. We're asking enthusiastic techy people and subject matter experts to join us in developing prototypes and solutions to make a real difference to homeless people.</P>
<P>The Leeds #homelesshack will build on the success of recent homeless hacks in London and <A HREF="https://www.manchesterdigital.com/events/homelesshack" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer"><SPAN><SPAN>Manchester</SPAN></SPAN></A>, incorporating local perspectives, with lots of room for new ideas!</P>
<H2>Why take part?</H2>
<P>In 2016 there were <A HREF="http://www.homelessuk.org/facts/homelessness-in-numbers/rough-sleeping/rough-sleeping-explore-data" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer"><SPAN><SPAN>172 people</SPAN></SPAN></A> sleeping rough in Yorkshire and the Humber.</P>
<P>It's not only about rough sleeping though - more than 100,000 people each year apply to UK local councils for help with homelessness, and that number is increasing by more than 10% every year.</P>
<H2>How will it work?</H2>
<P>Digital experts from DWP will facilitate the event alongside professionals from charities, academia and industry specialists.  Service designers, data analysts, developers, researchers, and people with lived experience will come together to create solutions and ideas to help.</P>
<P>There’ll be people who know what's needed, people who know what data is available and where to find it, and people who can take on the ideas and prototypes from the event and find ways to make them happen.</P>
<H2>Is it for me?</H2>
<P>This will be an inclusive, open and collaborative event. Everyone with energy and ideas is welcome, not just those with technical skills.</P>
<P>Please don't worry if it's your first time at an event like this - everyone is welcome and there will be plenty of help and support on offer.</P>

<P>10:00 to 10:30: Welcome and introductions</P>
<P>10:30 to 12:30: Ask the experts; hear from experts who work on homelessness to help you understand what is needed</P>
<P>12:30 to 13:15: Lunch</P>
<P>13:15 to 15:00: Idea pitches</P>
<P>15:00 to 17.30: Form teams and get to work</P>
<H3>Saturday</H3>
<P>10:00 to 10.30: Recap of Day 1</P>
<P>10.30 to 15:00: Work in self-organising teams to design solutions and build working prototypes</P>
<P>15:00: Show and tell</P>
<P>16:00: Finish</P>
