This film screening presented by Richard Jeffries of the East Anglian Royal Photographic Society's Documentary Group focusses on four Leipzig Shadows. The first shadow: The 8th Air Force United States Army Airforce's Ten horsepower, which on the first day of big week left Polbrook to fly to Leipzig and the 69th amour division who assisted in liberating Leipzig; the second shadow: the Erla Plant, responsible for the making of the German Messerschmidt ;the third shadow: the Return of Culture and the Opera house where Norfolk's own Jenny Lind performed, and the fourth shadow: present day East Germany.

We are fortunate to have so many fantastic ancient and historic towns and cities providing great photographic opportunities. Our region also includes a many faceted coastline from Essex in the South to Norfolk in the North and many areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty such as the Norfolk Broads and Thetford Forest. We cover a broad range of interests and approaches to photography in our Regional events and meetings. Many of these run jointly with one of the Society's Special Interest Groups (SIGs). A number of Advisory Days, Events and Lectures run throughout the year. These events are held at weekends in Cambridge, Norwich or Ipswich. Field trips can be on any day of the week and are often arranged by local volunteers.

The Library was set up in 1963 as a living memorial to the nearly 7,000 American personnel from the 2nd Air Division who were based in East Anglia during World War II and were killed in action. The library honours their memory and is a place of cultural exchange between the people of East Anglia, and the people of the United States of America. The American Library is based inside the Norfolk and Norwich Millennium Library in The Forum in central Norwich, England. The library is managed by the Norfolk County Council Library and Information Service and funded by the Memorial Trust of the 2nd Air Division USAAF, an independent registered UK charity.
