We're the charity who look after and bring to life 2,000 miles of waterways, because we believe that life is better by water.Our research shows that spending time by water, whether it be your lunchbreak, daily commute or just a weekend stroll, really can make us feel happier and healthier.With ever increasing rates of obesity, stress and declining mental health in the UK, we are uniquely placed to make a significant contribution to improving the wellbeing of millions of people. Our canals and rivers run through some of the most heavily populated communities in England and Wales, providing accessible green and blue space where it’s needed the most.That’s why, here at the Trust, we're working with volunteers and communities across England and Wales to transform canals and rivers into spaces where local people want to spend time and feel better. We know this will bring wellbeing opportunities to millions.Our work involves not only looking after our waterways, but promoting them widely to the eight million plus people who have waterways on their doorstep so that many more people benefit from our free, accessible and local source of wellbeing.We have a range of events which you will be able to take part in around your local waterways.

Join us for a FREE festive paddle in Bootle #SantaSplash

Eldonian Village Hall

<h2>Join us for a festive paddle along the Leeds &amp; Liverpool canal from Eldonian Village to the Lock &amp; Quay Community Pub. </h2><h3>All participants will receive a festive hat, hot chocolate and mince pie at the start. We encourage you to wear your most colourful festive jumper, decorate your boat with tinsel and sing along to the carols. </h3>The 2-mile paddle will take you to a winter wonderland of festive stalls and FREE hot food provided by Lock &amp; Quay Community Pub and Bootle Canoe Club. Book onto one of our canoe rafts or alternatively, bring your own boat. Want to bring your own boat?All craft welcome, including stand up paddleboard, canoes, kayaks. In order to join us in with your own equipment, you must:<ul><li>Book a ticket</li><li>Have British Canoe membership (or equivalent) </li><li>Wear a good fitting buoyancy aid</li><li>Use equipment which is in good working order</li><li>Dress appropriately for the weather</li><li>Stay with your instructor for the full session</li><li>Please ensure your arrive around 10 am for your hot chocolate and mince pie, you will then be directed to your canoe raft or walk leader and it is important you stay in the allocated area to enable social distancing of the event.</li><li>If you arrive after the the group have left, you should not access the water without instructor supervision</li></ul>Book nowPlease book one ticket per person. These sessions are designed for adults and children from seven years old upwards. Under 16 year olds should be supervised by a responsible adult either on the water or during the walk. Walk ins will not be accepted. If you can no longer attend, please cancel your ticket via Eventbrite or please get in touch with us to allow another person(s) a chance to take part.
