Event description

Description

This two-hour masterclass is part of the Museum of Brands’ professional development programme: a series of talks, workshops and masterclasses in 2018. With a focus on brand, marketing and advertising, these sessions enable attendees to delve deeply into various aspects of these broad subjects.

Overview

In the earlier days of advertising celebrated at the Museum, words had a magical allure. Copywriters were expected to write compelling stories in simple press ads, which took both stamina and craft skill. Today, some would argue we live today in a world of visual overload. Pictures and videos are the lifeblood of social media and dominate our smartphones. So is there a danger the importance of great copy gets overlooked?

In this practical workshop, you will:

  • Discover the ways in which copywriting has changed and developed
  • Learn how the role of the copywriter has been transformed over time
  • Work in small groups to create your own copy for a campaign
