Join us for an immersive CPD experience for BCS members, we will discuss the key issues related to Green IT

<h2>BCS member exclusive Green IT CPD event </h2>Join us for an immersive learning experience through which participants will face an immersive scenario to encourage conversation, debate and sharing of ideas towards the challenges faced when designing and implementing digital solutions, and highlight the environmental considerations. This event will focus on the key issues relating to Green IT (climate crisis, sustainable technology/practices, digital transformation, ethical dilemma), the impact of implementing technology (e.g. increasing use of AI/deep learning, data), and the need for a cultural shift in businesses to deliver on commitment to reducing carbon emissions. As part of this event you will have the opportunity to gain another digital badge on successful completion of the Green IT knowledge challenge.

<h2>Event outline </h2>You will be encouraged to reflect on the key themes/issues in relation to your role and consider the impact of how they work and what they do – how your role can contribute towards engineering green solutions and how you can support others to operate in a more sustainable manner. Evaluate your own role, practices, ways of working and use of code and technology. Reflect on your organisation’s infrastructure, technology (reuse policy, e-waste, use of data), policies, culture, and awareness of sustainable Green IT practises.

We will encourage you to consider what you or your organisation can do in terms of approach, strategy, operations, communication, resources, and ways of working that can deliver positive change, greener solutions and practices.
