Let's Talk: Building our Shared Table
Join the Community Changemakers for a workshop about how we can 'build longer tables not higher walls' through inclusion at Kairos.
Let's Talk: Anti-Racism Series
What does an inclusive community look and feel like?
How can we 'build longer tables not higher walls' in practice?
Come along to this free workshop to have a collaborative discussion about what inclusion looks like in practice at Kairos and in our communities. We will be thinking about misinformation in the media and how we can have caring conversations with our friends, families and communities about migration. Our Community Changemakers have put together a session full of activities that explore these issues in a supportive environment.
We will have a conversation and then eat a meal together (vegetarian) at our 'shared table'. Please let us know if you have any dietary requirements.
This event is open to all women+ whether or not you'd like to share your experiences, as part of our Community Learning series exploring anti-racism We will be looking at a different theme every programme season so please share your ideas for our next theme!
A creche and BSL interpretation can be provided at this event, please indicate if you require this when booking.
We recognise that this topic may bring up difficult experiences for people so just a reminder to look after yourselves and each other throughout the workshop. If there is anything we can do to make this event comfortable for you, please reach out and let us know.
Booking: This event is free and open to all, designed for women+ (inclusive of trans women and non-binary folk). Book your ticket on Eventbrite, or alternatively, you can email annie@kairoswomen.org or call on 0141 3785078 to find out more or book a Welcome Meeting with a member of the team.
Food & drinks: we have snacks & hot drinks available for free, and there’s a free food pantry in the corridor & there is always sandwich ingredients in the kitchen so just ask.
Pantry & Free Shop: In our corridor, grab something from the free shop – clothes, toiletries, household items. Or why not see what you can find in the pantry? Lots of items to fill your cupboards.
Children: We can provide a free creche for children during the event so please let us know if you are planning to come with a child (or multiple!) and their ages.
Transport: We are a 12 minute walk from Paisley Gilmour Station and the main bus routes. There is a large car park in front of the building. We will need your registration number on arrival when you sign in for free parking.
Note on the space: we are based in the Embroidery Mill, directly across from Morrisons car park. We’re the mill building without the tall tower nearby. Find out more on our Contact page.
Accessibility information: our space is on the ground floor and is wheelchair accessible with an accessible bathroom. BSL interpretation will be provided and we have a hearing loop available to use. Go to our Accessibility & Inclusion page for more information.
Sensory information: Kairos is a very colourful space that can be noisy during busy groups. We use lamps in our spaces to reduce sensory overwhelm and fidget toys are available. Speak to someone before coming along so we can advise you of quieter spaces. We can adapt to make the space more comfortable and accessible for you!
