The Levolution! exhibition draws to a close with an event that spotlights Levenshulme Old Library's journey and our vibrant community.

We’re bringing our Levolution! exhibition to a close with an event that spotlights the Old Library&#x27;s remarkable journey and the vibrant community that has shaped it. We’ll have a performance from Claire Mooney, singer, songwriter, lifelong activist and local resident. With a legacy spanning seven albums, Claire&#x27;s musical journey has resonated across the UK and beyond for more than four decades. Her songs tackle issues of injustice and peace, ranging from ending the mistreatment of women and girls to dispelling stigma surrounding HIV/Aids.But Claire&#x27;s impact extends far beyond her music. For three decades, she has passionately collaborated with community groups, inspiring others to raise their voices and address issues close to their hearts. As the inaugural patron of Manchester Pride, she has played a pivotal role in advocating for LGBTQ+ rights and her relentless efforts earned her the Lord Mayor of Manchester&#x27;s Special Recognition Award in 2021, a testament to her tireless work on behalf of women, workers&#x27; rights, and minorities in our city. We’re incredibly excited to bring you a specially commissioned Levolution song from Claire.

We’ll also be screening a new specially commissioned film from Harp and a Monkey, the acclaimed music, storytelling, and arts collective.For the past few months we’ve been speaking to local residents, collecting their recollections of our building. Harp and a Monkey have turned these memories into a short film narrative celebrating the history of our building and the togetherness our community stands for.There will also be refreshments, a final chance to browse our Levolution! exhibition and some art activities to keep your little ones engaged and entertained. Attendance is free.
