London Festival of Architecture 2023 at RIBA

From 1 to 30 June, RIBA will host an exciting programme of installations, talks and events as part of the London Festival of Architecture, responding to the festival's 2023 theme: In Common.

With activity responding to this year’s LFA theme ‘<a href="https://www.londonfestivalofarchitecture.org/lfa2023-theme-is-in-common/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">In Common</a>’, LFA RIBA Late returns for 2023 with a full schedule of live performances, installations, talks and tours across multiple floors of the historic 66 Portland Place. The Royal College of Art collaborates with RIBA for the second time, responding to <a href="https://www.architecture.com/explore-architecture/exhibitions/cities-of-the-night-royal-college-of-art" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Cities of the Night </a>with a commissioned DJ set by multidisciplinary artist, DJ and voyager Chooc Ly Tan, taking us into the night and creating new visions of reality by subverting and repurposing systems and tools we use to understand the world around us. Visitors will also have the opportunity to grab a drink from our pop-up bar and visit &#x27;<a href="https://www.architecture.com/explore-architecture/exhibitions/The-Architect-has-Left-the-Building" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">The Architect Has Left The Building</a>&#x27; in the Architecture Gallery with a special programme of live talks, sound and vision - one spectacular evening of activity you don’t want to miss. <h3>The Architecture Gallery </h3>7pm - The Architect Has Left the Building – Artist talk with Jim Stephenson Join renowned architectural photographer and filmmaker Jim Stephenson for an introduction to his dual-screen film installation which weaves together moments of joy and intimacy, questioning what happens when new buildings open their doors. Commissioned as a response to this year’s London Festival of Architecture theme, ‘In Common’, the installation offers a series of cinematic vignettes documenting how people engage with the built environment. 7.45pm - Simon James - Sounding the ShadowsSounding the Shadows, by musician and sound artist Simon James, is an exploration of structural resonances and architectural fantasies; a multi speaker &#x27;sound environment&#x27; created for and performed live in RIBA&#x27;s Portland Place Gallery, mixing Buchla Electronic Synthesizer with field recordings of buildings and spaces from Simon’s archive.<blockquote>Image: Hackney New Primary School &amp; 333 Kingsland Road, Henley Halebrown © Jim Stephenson</blockquote><blockquote></blockquote>

Additionally, a night walk is programmed as part of LFA RIBA Late and the Cities of the Night exhibition. 10pm - Into the Night: a collective night walk<a href="https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/into-the-night-a-collective-night-walk-tickets-626359256397" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">F﻿ree, booking required</a><a href="https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/into-the-night-a-collective-night-walk-tickets-626359256397" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer"></a>Marylebone collective night-walk led by artist Alisa Oleva, exploring through scores and senses what the night brings and how we navigate it. Free, but booking is required to secure a place. M﻿eeting point: 9.45pm at 66 Portland Place reception.
