ABOUT THIS COLLECTION
Delving deep into my psyche, I found inspiration for my latest collection rooted in my most profound phobias. These fears, stemming from childhood experiences, have shaped my understanding of vulnerability and resilience. Claustrophobia, the sensation of being trapped, the inability to move, and thalassophobia, a fear of the vast and unknown depths of the sea, all find expression in this collection.
Black, for me, embodies the feeling of confinement, of being closed in. It is the hue that encapsulates the darkness of these fears, and as such, it serves as the exclusive palette for my designs. However, within this color scheme, I explore a myriad of fabrics, textures, and techniques to evoke the complexity of human emotion.
My garments are either fully or in part hand stitched. In my quest to push boundaries, I ventured into unfamiliar territory, experimenting with techniques such as leather molding. By soaking the leather in warm water and draping it on a mannequin, I discovered a method that allows the material to retain its shape while retaining an organic feeling.
Through this collection, I invite viewers to confront their own fears, to embrace vulnerability as a source of strength. It is a testament to the transformative power of facing our deepest anxieties, finding beauty in the darkness, and emerging stronger on the other side.
ABOUT OUR DESIGNER
Nine years ago, I started studying fashion at Liceo Artistico Volta Fellini in Riccione, Italy. During those first five years, I immersed myself in the fundamentals of garment-making, this is where my passion for creating attire for performances and costumes was born.
I then moved to London, where I pursued a degree in Fashion Pattern Cutting at UAL.
In 2022, I seized an opportunity to broaden my horizons in Amsterdam, interning at Viktor & Rolf's Haute Couture Atelier. There, guided by professionals, I delved into the intricacies of haute couture, refining my craft and embracing innovative techniques.
Throughout my journey, my parents have been my unwavering support, fostering my creativity and fearlessly encouraging me to chase my dreams, even if it meant venturing alone into a foreign country at 18. Additionally, I'm extremely thankful to my university tutor, Rasha Swais, whose guidance and belief in my vision have been indispensable.
My designs are characterized by constant evolution and experimentation. I thrive on pushing boundaries and exploring new techniques with each project, avoiding doing the same thing over and over to keep getting better.
Drawing inspiration from esteemed designers like Viktor & Rolf, Han Kjobenhav, Guo Pei, and Robert Wun, I am driven to carve my unique path in the industry.
Looking ahead, my aspirations lie in the field of film and performance.
Ultimately, I envision myself sharing knowledge and inspiring future generations as a teacher, nurturing the same passion and creativity that have propelled me thus far.
