Tutored by Lily Holder, Modelled by Sylvie Holder

Expect a departure from the norm in this class! We will be joined by the fantastic Artist and Performer Sylvie Holder, for a session that embraces the often chaotic and energetic nature of working with a body in flux.

In this session, we'll explore both static and movement based poses and our tutor Lily Holder will guide you through a series of exercises to help tackle the challenging nature of working with a body that just won't stay still!

    About our Tutor:

Lily Holder is an Artist, Model and Educator based in South East London. Lily has been a part of the LDG story since modelling for one of our first ever Life Drawing classes at Lewisham Art House in 2016 and very swiftly becoming a regular model and collaborator of ours.

Lily is passionate about drawing from the figure and is particularly interested in the collaborative relationship between Artist and Model. In her teaching she draws on her decade of experience working as a model, bringing knowledge from both sides of the easel to the classroom.

    About our Model:

Sylvie Holder is a contemporary dance theatre maker and movement artist originally from South East London, now based in Leeds after completing both her BA & MA degrees at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance. Over the past two years she has independently created work, as well as collaborated with established artists & organisations across Europe.

Her most recent work Sweet England had its London debut at The Place’s Resolution Festival in January 2024, with its preview in Leeds in 2023. Sylvie’s movement practice roots itself physically in our inherent human postures, gestures, relationships, and dynamics, whilst also embodying her core influences of social politics, folk history and rural landscapes.

FAQs - Please read these thoroughly so you can be fully prepared for the class:

    WHO IS THIS FOR:

This class is suitable for ALL LEVELS - Think you can only draw a stick man? Perfect.

    YOU WILL NEED:

    • Paper and lots of it! We recommend A3 and above so you have enough space to make bold and energetic marks.
    • Something to draw with! We love charcoal at LDG but you can also experiment with pencils, pen, soft pastels, oil pastels etc - whatever you have in your home!

    ETIQUETTE:

Online Life Drawing requires trust on both sides of the camera and our priority at LDG is keeping our life models safe and comfortable whilst working online. The majority of our life models will be working semi-clothed, however, occasionally a model may feel more comfortable to perform their job nude. If it is important for you to know this information in advance of the class, please drop us an email. Please note that taking screenshots, recordings, or reference images during class is not permitted or appropriate.

    TICKETS:

We suggest an amount of £20. However, we understand that may not be possible for everybody. Please be honest and pay what you can afford so that we may continue to offer our sessions on this basis whilst also giving our tutors a sustainable wage.

There is also a ticket option to "Pay It Forward" to support us and our students! We offer classes for free to those who can't afford the minimum amount (If this is you please email us to join for free). This continues to ensure our classes are available to everyone!

    ONCE BOOKED:

You will receive a confirmation email and be able to access information on how to join the event via your eventbrite "Online Event Page" You can access this by signing into eventbrite or creating an account using the email address that you booked with.

    IN THE CLASS:

You can't be seen or heard in our classes, your audio and video are automatically turned off and there's no way these can be turned on. You can talk to us and others in the class in the chat box!

    AFTER CLASS:

We love to see your drawings or anything else our classes inspire! You can share them with us by tagging us on instagram (@londondrawinggroup) or emailing us if you don't have socials.

ARE YOU TRYING TO BOOK VIA THE EVENTBRITE PHONE APP?!

We have been in touch with Eventbrite, and they have informed us that currently you cannot book tickets to online events in their app. It's very frustrating and we have been assured they are working on a solution. In the meantime, we recommend that you book tickets to our events outside of the iOS app - either via a web browser or a desktop. If you book our classes regularly we recommend deleting the eventbrite App.

IF YOU HAVE ANY PROBLEMS OR QUESTIONS PLEASE EMAIL:
