About this event

Welcome to the Lightbulb Sessions! A new workshop series intended to foster collaborative innovation and creative expression within the Scottish data-driven theatre and performing arts community.

The Lightbulb Sessions are monthly workshops looking at a different aspects of data driven theatre: From exploring what data driven tech is and how you could/should use it, to IP and contracts, from finding and commissioning technologists, to designing inclusivity and accessibility into new tech, to thinking about security and ecologically responsible tech.

Each month there will be a different topic, an expert speaker and exercises supporting you to develop your new ideas for new tech. At the end of the 12 months there will be two grants of £2,000 available to apply for to get a new idea started, which Civic Digits and its partners will mentor and support.

More about the Lightbulb Sessions

The sessions will be led by hacker, inventor and tech journalist Rupert Goodwins with playwright and Artistic Director of Civic Digits, Clare Duffy.

Each month there will be a different topic, an expert speaker and exercises supporting you to develop your new ideas for new tech.

The sessions are hosted by Civic Digits in Edinburgh, and in Online for everyone else. We no longer host the watch parties ahead of the Creative Meetup.

The Lightbulb Sessions are supported by the National Lottery through Creative Scotland.

Creative Tech Meetup

After the workshop, we’re excited to be hosting a Creative Tech Meetup—an opportunity for the Fife tech, creative, and entrepreneur/founder community to come together. It’s a chance to meet, chat, and connect with other like-minded individuals from across the area, all in a relaxed and social setting.

Even if you can’t attend the workshop, we’d love for you to join us at the Meetup! Simply head over to the Eventbrite page to register—you’ll be able to indicate which parts of the evening you’ll be attending.

On the 30th October we will be combining the Creative Tech Meetup with OnFife's first Create in Kirkcaldy session of the year. This will be a great opportunity to build stronger connections within the Kirkcaldy and wider Fife communities, and chat about how we can best support each other through these sessions.

Creative Tech Meetup Agenda:

6:00pm – Expert presentation/chat

7:00pm - Session ends and networking until 7:30pm.
