Overview

Join us for Linocut, an ever-popular and versatile printmaking process.

Linocut Workshop

This session covers Linocut, one of the most recognisable and popular printmaking processes, with expressive marks and delicate details.

Linocut is a relief process, using tools to cut into the printing block that is then rolled with ink and transferred to paper. The image is taken from the surface of the block, and can be hand-printed or printed with a press. It is an iconic printmaking process, using expressive mark-making techniques that focus on areas of light and dark to build up an image. It can capture fine details, as well as broad textural marks. Its applications are versatile, being used for original artworks to fabric patterns and wallpapers.

This in-person event is perfect if you like bold images that celebrate detail and line. You'll learn the basics of linocutting, starting with using the tools to cut your block, before understanding how to print your print both with hand-printed methods and a press.

Her work is held in the Clifford Chance contemporary print collections, having been awarded the Clifford Chance Postgraduate Print Purchase prize in 2022.
