Liturina is a dynamic chamber ensemble dedicated to exploring diverse and challenging repertoire on historical instruments.
Liturina is passionate about exploring the space where historical performance and other genres intersect. In 2021 they collaborated with London-based jazz composer Jonny Mansfield, who composed ‘1038’, an original work based on Bach’s trio sonata. Supported by the Continuo Foundation and RCM Accelerate, they have gone on to commission a further work and produce a CD. In addition to extensive performances across the UK, Liturina’s members are committed educators and are passionate about bringing historical performance to as wide an audience as possible.
Liturina’s members have flourishing careers, collaborating with historical ensembles such as Florilegium, Academy of Ancient Music, The English Concert, La Serenissima, Orchestre Revolutionnaire et Romantique, OAE, and are in demand as chamber musicians internationally and at home. Beyond historical performance, each member has a wealth of knowledge and experience drawn from diverse areas of music making, allowing Liturina to challenge accepted ideas and gain a fresh perspective.
