Live Cello Music & Scribble

Live Cello Music & Scribble

Brighton Art SpaceBrighton and Hove, England

Overview

Join us for a unique experience blending live cello music with drawing - a creative fusion you won't want to miss!

We are excited to finally announce Live Music & Scribble, a new series starting this February. The idea is pretty simple: we bring in wonderful local musicians to create a live soundscape, and you use that energy to create whatever you feel in the moment. For our first session, we’ve got the incredibly talented Robin Squirrell joining us on the cello. If you’ve never sat a few feet away from a live cello performance, the vibe is unmatched.

The Concept This isn’t your typical "follow the teacher" art class. It’s an hour of total immersion. Our resident artist, Soma will be there to facilitate and get you settled, but once the music starts, the floor is yours. No one is going to over-the-shoulder watch your work or tell you what to do.

What are you making? Anything you want.

  • The Realist: Try to capture Robin and the cello in the moment.
  • The Scribbler: Just let your pen go. Doodle, scribble, and let the rhythm take over.

There’s no "right" way to do this. It’s just about showing up, listening, and seeing what ends up on the paper.

What’s Included?

  • The Music: A full hour-long live set by Robin.
  • The Gear: I’ve got all the materials covered—paper, pens, charcoal, you name it.
  • The Space: A chilled-out, focused environment to help you decompress.

Whether you’re a pro artist or you haven’t drawn anything since school, you’re welcome here. It’s all about the immersive experience, not the final result. Space is pretty limited to keep the vibe intimate, so grab a spot if you’re down for a creative reset.
