Sign up through the website, and then turn up for any/all of our sessions in January and February - perfect for trying out karate to see if you enjoy it! Also ideal to give as a gift to a friend or family member who is looking for something new to do in the new year.

How strict is it?

We teach karate in a way that is quite relaxed and informal - no need for shouting or excessive strictness. We can train hard in a safe and respectful way without being performative about it, and that lets us spend more time doing the thing we are there to do: the karate itself, while smiling and enjoying ourselves.

What does a session involve?

We begin each session with a warm-up, then we usually do some solo drills and padwork. We develop these exercises and work in pairs, increasing in complexity and realism, until we finish the session with some sparring.

We might also work on kata and then immediately look at some of the application of these movements, in a realistic fashion, with non-compliant training partners.

Can I bring my child?

The sessions are suitable for teenagers and adults alike, so if your child is 13+ then they would be welcome to join in with you. We also offer a family discount, that will apply automatically during checkout.

Safeguarding

The instructor has both DBS and PVG checks, holds up to date insurance, has undertaken first aid training as well as additional training for concussions and mental health and SEN participants, and is a professional martial arts instructor. Our goal is to help people get involved in karate in a safe and enjoyable way.
