A Closing Conversation for Making and Materiality
How do we speak about craft and embodied knowledge not as static heritage, but as living practices that continue to shape contemporary life?
Join artists Sayan Chanda and Jonathan Baldock for a talk exploring craft, embodied knowledge and material practice within contemporary art. Through sculpture, performance textiles, installation and processes of making by hand, the discussion will consider how forms of material knowledge are carried, transformed and sustained across time.
Moving between questions of labour, ritual, mythology and ecology, the conversation will reflect on how artists today engage with craft not as static heritage, but as something active, contemporary and continually evolving.
Moderated by Philippa Hobson, with contributions from Suzanna Petot.
This event forms the closing public discussion of Delfina Foundation’s thematic programme Making and Materiality.
Jonathan Baldock's and Sayan Chanda's residencies are supported by Armature.
