Northern Powergrid Connections

Northern Powergrid is hosting forums aimed at local authorities, the first in the series focuses on the decarbonisation of transport.

We want to ensure that we understand the priorities of Local Authorities in our region and how we can best support them. These forums will provide an opportunity to share knowledge and understanding. They’re intended to foster ongoing and closer engagement and so those taking part will have the opportunity to shape the agenda of future sessions, some of the topics we expect to cover however include the electrification of heating and transport with a focus on new connections, network capacity and future investment and resources and support available. 
We’ve spoken with local authorities and understand that Electric Vehicles and delivering on net zero targets are some of the most pressing challenges they're facing. In response, our first forum will focus on this and provide an opportunity to explore the road to net zero with other Local Authority representatives and Northern Powergrid’s experts.

Our first half- day forum is taking place on Friday 25 October 2019 at the Principal Hotel in York and on the day we will be discussing; 
<ul><li>Our role in supporting the low carbon transition and the actions we’re taking now to develop an electricity network that’s fit for the future;</li><li>What’s driving the electrification of transport in our region, current EV uptake and future projections; </li><li>The partnerships and new commercial and technical solutions we’re developing;</li><li>How we can support the stakeholders, customers and communities we serve in achieving their decarbonisation targets.
