About the Event

This workshop seeks to introduce and explore an actionable framework for a place-sensitive, socially acceptable decarbonisation process. It involves academic researchers from University of Exeter, University of Sussex, University of Manchester, and University of Leeds working on 4 social science projects at the Industrial Decarbonisation Research and Innovation Centre (IDRIC):

The workshop will be guided by an integrated framework based on the insights of these 4 IDRIC Wave 1 research projects. It welcomes diverse voices from people and groups, including industry and residents, who are engaged with or will be affected by the process of industrial decarbonisation in Grangemouth. The workshop will result in a document on action plan recommendations for Grangemouth to help cluster/project developers and organisations create constructive community-industry communication and relations in the process of low-carbon industrial transitions.

This workshop is part of the IDRIC Impact Accelerator project titled 'Delivering A Place-based Just Transition in Industrial Clusters' formed by the 4 projects mentioned above. The project is funded by the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund (ISCF) awarded by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). It obtains support from several non-academic partners, including Grangemouth Future Industry Board, Cheshire West and Chester Council, Milford Haven Port Authority, Net Zero Industry Wales, Zero Carbon Humberm, along with the IDRIC academic leads in the Humber Cluster and the Southampton Cluster.

Who will attend the workshop

The event will accommodate up to 30 participants and is first aimed at individuals and organisations who have already participated in the 4 IDRIC projects. Our aim is to ensure a diverse range of perspectives, with similar numbers attending from each of our participant categories.

The workshop will be open for broader individuals and organisations in Grangemouth one week before it takes place, if there is still space.

A confirmation email will be sent to you soon after registration.

Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis. If you are not able to attend the event after you registered, please cancel your order, so that we can give the ticket to the next person on the waitlist.
