Locating Global Horror
With Special Guest: Roar Uthaug, director of Cold Prey (2006), The Wave (2015), Tomb Raider (2018), Troll (2022), Troll 2 (2025)
Horror film experts and programmers from the Ramaskrik Horror Film Festival are
joined by acclaimed Norwegian director, Roar Uthaug, to discuss the importance
of location and setting in global horror film.
Surveying some of the most iconic scenes from international films the panel will
examine how mood is created by setting, why the natural environment is just as
horrifying as the killer, and what makes locations like hotels, shopping malls and
theme parks some of the scariest places to be after dark!
This event is part of the University of Portsmouth's One World Festival.
This event is open to staff, students and members of the public.
