Log basket weaving weekend
Create your very own log basket over 2 days, using traditional weaving techniques. Learn about different types of willow, how they are grown and processed, and the tools you need for basket weaving.
During the weekend you will learn and practise a variety of different weaves. You will construct a large, round base using a pairing weave, followed by waling to set the side stakes. You will have the option to learn or practise a variety of different side weaves. As this is a big basket you can try out a few different weaves on one basket if you like! Top it off with a border and a choice of a few different, strong handle designs.
This event is perfect for beginners and seasoned weavers alike. Please note that you will be making a large basket using thick willow rods and weaving for two full days. This can be hard on the hands so you are welcome to bring gloves if you like. We are also very happy to help you weave if you'd like.
All materials are included in the course price and tools will be provided.
Throughout the weekend refreshments will be provided including a delicious lunch both days. If you do not live nearby you will need to arrange your own dinner and accomodation. Please get in touch if you'd like some recommendations or help sorting this.
