London Community Media Summit
Date and time
Description
London has more than 40 community-run, often hyper-local media properties – newspapers, magazines, websites, radio stations. The London Community Media Summit is the first event to bring this group together to share experiences, learn from eachother and see if there are profitable partnerships to be formed.
The Summit will feature a series of short presentations from participants in, and interested observers of, this (relatively new) grassroots publishing phenomenon.
We’ve got a range of speakers contributing. From the media side: Waltham Forest Echo, Brixton Bugle, Peckham Peculiar, Camden New Journal, Hackney Citizen, Bristol Cable and others to follow. From the ‘interested observers’: Centre for Community Journalism and Power to Change.
We’ll be hearing about editorial operations, branding and community involvement and funding models – advertising, membership, social finance.
And there will be plenty of time set aside for networking, partnership building, the sharing of successes and the solving of problems.
The London Community Media Summit is supported by the Primetimers Foundation - part of Eastside Primetimers, and by Cardiff University's Centre for Community Journalism
