London Python Code Dojo (Season 7, Episode 7)

Apologies for the late announcement but we think the wait is worth it for the special things we are about to do this month!
<H2>MicroPython</H2>
Firstly Damien George, the creator of MicroPython, will come to present to us the work he is doing on bringing MicroPython to ESP8266 as part of his <A TARGET="_blank" HREF="https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/214379695/micropython-on-the-esp8266-beautifully-easy-iot" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">successful kickstarter campaign</A> . The campaign is ending Wednesday so don't wait until the dojo to check it out.
After his short presentation, we'll follow up with group coding and show and tell as usual.

If you are a beginner don't worry - MicroPython is just regular Python and very easy to get started with. If you have any MicroBit or MicroPython pyboard - or anything that plugs into them- please bring along. If you don't have any of these, then just bring yourselves, we will have enough for everyone to have fun!

We are returning to <A TARGET="_blank" HREF="http://www.mandsdigital.com/" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Marks and Spencer Digital</A> near Paddington. After hearing that I (Gautier) will run the dojo, they took the hint and have moved from Percy Pigs to "French cheese, wine and stuff" - communicating in Franglais will be encouraged!

 Finally, in our Python powered prize draw, we will be giving a book kindly provided by <A TARGET="_blank" HREF="http://oreilly.com/" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">O'Reilly.</A>
<H2>What is a dojo?</H2>
A coding dojo is a safe place (we use the PyCon UK <A TARGET="_blank" HREF="http://www.pyconuk.org/codeofconduct/" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">code of conduct</A>) to deliberately practise and develop your coding skills, and perhaps learn something new too. We don't really (read: never) stick to a strict dojo format but rather brainstorm ideas for problems to solve, choosing one by popular, if complicated, vote, and then break into teams courtesy of the London Python Dojo Fully Patented Numbering Scheme for an hour and a half of furious coding (at least, furious something). To wrap the evening up each team does a “show and tell”, and end with drinks in the pub.
All programming abilities welcome, we have diverse attendees ranging from beginners to core Python contributors!
