<h3>Love history? Join archaeologists starting a brand new search for historic sites on the Gwent Levels.</h3>This is the first in a new series of workshops where archaeologists and local history-lovers will work together to locate, investigate and identify historic sites on the Levels' landscape.Using 3D LiDAR (laser) models and digital maps (GIS -Geographic Information Systems), we’ll show you how to spot areas of historical significance on the landscape and figure out what they are. Our aim is to use this new technology to reveal more about our historic landscape surrounding us and to share it via our interactive online map - made specifically for exploring the Gwent Levels through the ages.You’ll learn how archaeologists search for sites in the landscape, and try finding some for yourself.Join us to help put history back on the map!<h3>FAQs</h3>*Who can join?*Anyone aged 12+ who is interested in history and how archaeologists discover new sites.*Where do I meet you?*The workshop is being held in the lovely Village Hall in Redwick, just next to the Rose Inn. There will be parking available directly outside of the hall, but it is limited. If you need to park on the road, please do so responsibly using only one side of the road to allow for emergency vehicles, lorries and tractors to pass .*What do I need to bring?*We’ll provide plenty of tea and biscuits, but you will need to bring:-	A tablet or laptop-	Packed lunchIf you are unable to bring your own laptop, please let us know - we may have a couple of spares.*What's the schedule like?*The day will run from 9.30am to 4:00pm (with plenty of tea breaks dotted throughout the day). 9.30 - Meet at the hall. We'll start the morning with a brief introduction to both the project and to each other...then it's time to delve into the wonderful world of LiDAR and GIS. 13:00 - Lunch13:45- Afternoon session begins16:00 - End of day!*What will I learn?*In this workshop, you will learn how archaeologists use laser models and digital maps to locate, identify and learn more about historic landscapes - and how you can do it too. With help from history lovers and local community members, we're aiming to create an online map together showcasing the area's extraordinary history. Come find how you can become an integral part of updating and maintaining an interactive online map showing off the rich history of the Gwent Levels. *Who is organising the event?*This event is part of Living Levels, and is being run by DigVentures and the Living Levels Partnership. Together with local residents, historians, archaeologists, archivists, and anyone who is even just a little bit interested in history.
