Workshop to explore borough challenges and potential solutions for recruiting for data roles and accessing data talent.

<h2>Context</h2><p>The ability to use and collaborate with data well is now accepted as a vital competency for any council wishing to be truly effective and responsive to its residents' needs. That ability depends on having access to a number of different skill sets, from information governance to data visualisation, and from data science to data architecture, among many others. </p><p>Yet London boroughs consistently report that they struggle to recruit individuals with advanced data skills, particularly for roles such as data scientists. LOTI is holding a discovery into this issue to better understand the real barriers and determine what solutions could be put in place.</p><h2>Workshop Objectives</h2><p>The aims of this workshop are to: </p><ol><li>Review the feedback and ideas shared by the LOTI Data community in our <a href="https://forms.gle/fgUahMnrtgmFsjaQ9" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Data Capacity Survey</a> </li><li>Determine which barriers to accessing data talent are within LOTI's sphere of influence to address</li><li>Explore and prioritise potential solutions that could be taken forward for a pilot.</li></ol><h2>Who should attend?</h2><p>We warmly invite people working at all different levels in data roles in London local government to join us to share their experiences.</p>
