This is a Womens Institue event, open to anyone over the age of 18 who identifies as a woman. Free to Ladies of the Lock members, £5 on arrival for guests.

For our meeting on Tuesday 7th May we'll be taking to the streets of Kentish Town for the second part of our historical tour of the area with long-term local resident, Elena Paolini and accredited London Tour Guides, Seekout London!

Meet us under the canopy next to the Kentish Town train and underground station entrance (where the flower seller and coffee truck are usually found) at 7pm for the one-hour guided walk. We'll end up at The Bull and Gate pub (389 Kentish Town Rd) for a drink and a natter.

Up and down Kentish Town: panoramas, pianos and pearly whites

From a Medieval settlement with its own manor house, Kentish Town evolved into a salubrious rural retreat for the burgeoning middle classes, but its pretentions to gentility were destroyed by the arrival of the railway in the 19th century. Despite the planning blight of the 1950s and 1960s, Kentish Town is once again a vibrant neighbourhood, with its pretty ice-cream coloured terraces, thriving pubs and some really unique buildings which have been repurposed for 21st century living.
