About this event

Dryad is a community-led, open access data repository which operates on a non-profit basis. The University of Sheffield is an institutional member of Dryad, which confers a range of benefits upon University researchers wishing to make use of its services, including the ability to publish your data with Dryad for free.

In this webinar, Dryad’s Head of Community Engagement, Sarah Lippincott, will provide a demonstration of Dryad and highlight how researchers can get the most out of our membership.

Professor Andrew Beckerman (School of Biosciences), who is also the editor in chief for Ecology and Evolution and a member of Dryad’s Board of Directors, will then provide an academic and editor’s perspective on the system. We’ll also be joined by a colleague from the University Library’s Research Data Management team to speak briefly about ORDA, our institutional repository which researchers may wish to use for outputs that are not appropriate for Dryad.

Data sharing is an increasingly prominent part of the research landscape, both as a requirement of some funders and journals, and as good practice in supporting the accessibility, accountability and reusability of research. Journals, publishers and societies including eLife, American Geophysical Union, Wiley journals in Ecology (e.g. from the British Ecological Society, Ecological Society of America, Remote Sensing, Society for the Study of Evolution, Nordic Society), and the Royal Society (full list here) all have existing links with Dryad. University of Sheffield researchers publishing with these journals can therefore benefit from processes such as integrated data submission.

This is an excellent opportunity to find out more about Dryad and to ask any questions you might have.
