Lunar Legacies

Legacy WM is a registered charity that has its roots in celebrating the heritage of post-war migrant communities in Birmingham. Our work highlights their relationship to the industrial, architectural, and cultural heritage of the city. Early projects included tracing migrant journeys through food, and developing a local heritage trail.In the past five years we have developed and extended our work to involve the second and third generations, to recognise and support their contribution to our city.We have adopted four new priorities:HeritageWellbeingThe ArtsCommuntity CohesionThese priorities enable Legacy WM to develop and deliver culturally diverse, creative, and interactive projects for many different audiences, in response to a range of needs.

Delve deeper into the lives of the Lunar Society as Legacy WM explores little known links to the group and slavery in the 18th century

Soho House Museum

<p>Today the Lunar Society are well known for their links to the Midlands Enlightenment and the Industrial Revolution. Less explored are the group's opinions of, and connections to the transatlantic slave trade.  This walking tour explores sites around Handsworth with links to the Lunar Men, and examines their attitudes to slavery. How did the group deal with their differing opinions, and how did their actions help to shape the City that we live in today? </p>
