Lunchtime Talk: Scientist's Corner

Lunchtime Talk: Scientist's Corner

By Westminster Abbey

Overview

Uncover the history of Westminster Abbey’s Scientists’ Corner and what these memorials reveal.

Why are famous scientists like Newton, Darwin and Hawking remembered in Westminster Abbey? Historian Joe Cain explores the significance of commemorating scientists in a sacred space. Hear about how they have shaped public understanding of discovery and what that reveals about shifting values in Britain’s national memory.

This event is part of our monthly Lunchtime Talk series. On the second Wednesday of every month, join us at St Margaret’s Church for an in-depth exploration of part of the Abbey’s history.
