Lunchtime Talk: Transforming Spaces – Macalloy's Architectural Innovation
Hear about the use of local Sheffield company Macalloy’s architectural products and innovations in modern architecture.
In 1921, McCalls and Company Limited was founded by TH McCall, Edwin Llwewllyn Raworth and CW Hamilton in a stock yard on Queens Street, Sheffield. They supplied steel rods and bars which were in high demand for the expanding concrete trade. The company grew very quickly and expanded into supplying straight or bent rods and bars in cut lengths.
This talk will give an overview into their work over the years’ focusing on their architectural innovation, expansive interiors and bridge aesthetics.
This talk forms part of the programme of events complementing the exhibition Show Your Metal, which opens at the Millennium Gallery on 13 June 2024, until 29 September 2024.
