Is the walk difficult?

This is not a race or a competition.  The walk is a gentle, family friendly route which includes hard standing paths too.  Walk the full distance or make it shorter - a map, available to all on arrival, will guide you and our friendly stewards will be on hand to offer directions.

Is the route suitable for wheelchairs or buggies?

The grassed route is not suitable for wheelchairs or strollers but those who wish to enjoy taking part in the day can use the many hard standing paths on the route.

Question 3

Is there any free parking?

Accepted Answer

Parking is free at Stockwood Park and there are ample spaces.  Drivers should head to the Stockwood Park Discovery Centre Car Park accessed via the London Road entrance.

Will there be any food or drink?

Accepted Answer

We highly recommend that walkers bring their own bottle of water and a snack.  Limited supplies of free bottled water will be available on a first come first served basis.  Additional refreshments can be purchased inside Stockwood Park's Garden Cafe, open until 4pm.

What should I wear?

Wet or dry weather, the walk will take place come rain or shine!  We encourage all walkers to be mindful of the weather before heading out and ensure that you wear light layers, bring a waterproof jacket and wear comfortable shoes for walking.

What age must you be to take part?

Accepted Answer

We welcome all ages!  This is a family friendly event.  Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Photographers will be present on the day and images will used on social media and media.  If you post your own photos on social media, be sure to tag the event using #LutonDementiaWalk. 
   Please be mindful of others when taking photographs and respect the privacy of others.

I know the event is free.  Can I make a donation?

Accepted Answer

This is a free event.  Young at Heart and Music24 will be able to accept voluntary donations on the day should you wish to make a contribution to the work of the charities.

Question 9

Can I bring my dog?

Accepted Answer

Yes!  We welcome well-behaved doggies and responsible owners.  Owners should provide water for their dogs and ensure that they clear up after them.

Where can I find a Luton Dementia Awareness Walk Route Map and where does the Walk start?

Accepted Answer

A route map is available to all walkers upon arrival.  The walk starts outside Stockwood Park Discovery Centre near the car park accessed via the London Road entrance.  Be sure to park here to register your attendance and start the walk.  Our friendly Marshals will be on hand all day to guide you.

Are there any toilets?

Yes, the toilet facilities can be found inside Stockwood Park Discovery Centre.
