Description

Film makers Noah Angell and Francis Gooding will screen source material for their upcoming film project Lux Imperium, which is composed from hundreds of home movies shot during the dissolution of the British Empire.

Lux Imperium explores the history of the amateur film as it first became available to the public in the same decades that saw the unravelling of the British Empire. While using this technology to record their private lives, amateur filmmakers throughout the British colonies were also unwittingly capturing the biggest empire in history in free fall. Angell and Gooding will show some of this material alongside contemporary youtube sourced clips in order to articulate a rough historical trajectory of the political amateur film.
