Agenda

Dr. George Floros  is an adjunct lecturer and associate researcher at University of Thessaly. He received his Engineering Diploma, M.Sc. and PhD degrees from the same department in 2013, 2015, and 2019 respectively. His research interests lie primarily in the areas of mathematical modelling and simulation of semiconductor devices and electronic circuits, model order reduction, thermal analysis of ICs, as well as VLSI and embedded systems design techniques. During his academic career, he has authored over 10 journal articles, 27 conference papers, 3 posters and abstracts. He has received three best paper awards and has been nominated for two more at international conferences. His research has attracted over €820,000 in funding from the EU and industry. He has served as principal investigator (PI) in three research projects and contributed as an associate researcher to eight additional projects.

Introduction

Tahani Aladwani is a Research Assistant at the University of Glasgow and earned her PhD in Computer Science in 2024. She also holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Umm Al-Qura University (2018) and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Taif University (2015). Her research focuses on enhancing data representation in the Federated Learning , addressing challenges such as label inconsistencies, data imbalance, and improving model performance using meta-learning techniques. She has published two journal papers and five conference papers in these areas.

Dr. Yixian Shen, a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Amsterdam. His work focuses on thermal management strategies for 3D-stacked processors, with an emphasis on machine learning-based scheduling for efficient thermal regulation.

Olympia Axelou is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Thessaly, Greece. She received her Engineering Diploma with honors in 2021 and completed her Ph.D. in 2024 at the same department. During her doctoral studies, she earned the highly competitive H.F.R.I. (Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation) fellowship, actively contributed to multiple research projects, and gained industry experience through an internship at Infineon Technologies AG in Munich, Germany. Her research expertise focuses on IC aging and long-term reliability, model order reduction, electrical and thermal analysis, large-scale circuit simulation, and the integration of machine learning and numerical methods in design automation.
