Discover Nature’s unseen beauty
Uncover hidden worlds through a macro lens in a photography workshop led by guest expert Max Mudie.
Learn tips and tricks from a professional macro photographer before heading out into the park with the Help Nature Thrive team to see what images of nature we can capture using our mobile phones and macro lenses.
This is a 1.5-2hr interactive session for over 18s.
The workshop will include an indoor session Introduction to Macro Photography on Mobile Phones led by Max, followed by an outdoor flora and fauna walk in the park with the Help Nature Thrive team where we will try some of Max’s tips and tricks.
Please note:
- Help Nature Thrive events are free to attend and made possible thanks to the wonderful players of People’s Postcode Lottery. Please do tell us if you can no longer attend so that we can re-allocate your ticket to someone on the waiting list.
- This event is for adults with an interest in learning more about the natural world and will involve a gentle stroll through the park. This event is being delivered as part of The Royal Parks’ Help Nature Thrive programme.
- This is a mobile phone led workshop and the tutor won't necessarily have the time to help with other macro photography equipment. Macro lenses will be provided for you to try with your mobile phone.
- Please note that tickets will be allocated on a first come first served basis. If the event is listed as sold out, then unfortunately all the tickets have now been allocated. Please do join the waitlist, however, as we sometimes have cancellations.

Garrick Villa bus stop is near the entrance gate on Hampton Court Road. Nearest train station is Hampton. We ask that you take public transport, walk or cycle, as there is no public parking on site. Limited parking is available for those with access requirements. If so, please contact us to confirm.
The introduction takes place sitting at a table in a ground floor classroom. For the remainder of the session we will be walking at a slow-moderate pace along uneven and potentially muddy footpaths and parkland, pausing for extended periods to take photographs. Please contact us for more information
This is an outdoor event so wear comfortable clothing that is suitable for being outdoors and sturdy footwear. Please keep feet and legs covered to avoid any potential stings or scratches from plants in the park. Weather can be changeable, please check the forecast on the morning of your session.
Please bring your mobile phone fully charged so that you are able to use it within this workshop to take photos. Please note: this is a mobile phone led workshop for beginners. The tutor will not necessarily have the time to assist participants with any other equipment.
We kindly ask that dogs do not accompany you to this event. We will be exploring the wildlife sanctuary area of the park which is not accessible to the public. Assistance dogs are welcome.
The event is weather dependent, so in the event of extreme weather the event may be rescheduled or cancelled at short notice. The event will still go ahead in the rain.
