Join us for an exclusive Macro Photography workshop, right here in the Heart of England Forest, a thriving landscape dedicated to restoring native woodlands and creating vital habitats for wildlife.

This event is led by British Photography Award winning macro photographer Lee Frost, whose work has been featured by the BBC and National Geographic. This session will be supported by our very own Biodiversity Officer, and invertebrate enthusiast, Avery Hill.


What to Expect

Macro Photography Masterclass: This workshop is designed for macro photography beginners, but those already comfortable around a camera who want to develop their macro skill. It will be a creative and fun workshop where you will learn all about fieldcraft, lighting, composition and the use of essential equipment and the best settings to use.

Invertebrate Exploration: You'll learn techniques to capture the intricate details of invertebrates, and discover and identify a variety of often-overlooked creatures that call the Forest home.

With a limited group size, you'll receive personalized attention, ensuring a rich and engaging experience. This in-person workshop is a fantastic opportunity to learn from one of the best in the industry.

Frequently asked questions

What will I need to bring?

As this session is designed for those already comfortable around a camera, you will need to bring your own equipment - A camera(s), lenses (ideally a macro lens), flash, diffuser, memory card (s), spare camera/flash battery, lens wipes, and anything else you feel you may need.

Will there be refreshments?

Hot drinks and biscuits will be provided, however please do bring along any snacks or a lunch if you feel you may need it to keep your energy levels up.

Will there be toilet facilities?

Toilet and hand washing facilities at Middle Spernal Farm will be available at the start/finish and during any tea breaks, however please be aware there are no facilities once you are out in the Forest.

Are dogs permitted?

Due to the nature of this session, dogs are not allowed.

What will I need to wear?

With an early start it can get quite chilly, so outdoor clothing (waterproofs, fleeces/layers, good and sturdy outdoor shoes) are best.
