This is a workshop for staff working with children aged 5 and older who may benefit from using Makaton. Makaton uses speech with signs (gestures) and symbols (pictures) to help people communicate.
By attending this workshop, you will:
- Find out about what Makaton is and who uses it
- Discover the benefits of using Makaton signing
- Learn some Makaton signs and symbols
Reasons to attend:
- You would like to learn more about Makaton
- You are supporting a child who may benefit from Makaton. These children often have one or more of the following: a short attention span, difficulties understanding spoken language, difficulties using spoken language to communicate, or a severe speech disorder
This course will be delivered online via Microsoft Teams. When you book, you will receive a confirmation email, and closer to the workshop date, you will receive information about how to access the workshop and the materials you will require for the workshop.
In the unlikely event that a workshop is cancelled, we will endeavour to give as much notice as possible and you will be offered a place on an alternative date.
