Come and help build the Beithir at Stockingfield Bridge! Leave your mark on a tile for posterity in the newest art park in the city.

We are embarking on a beautiful quest in the North of Glasgow. We are inviting people of all ages and backgrounds across the city, country, and world to help us to create 50,000 ceramic buttons and scales to coat our mystical Scottish Water Serpent the Beithir.Join us to leave your mark in soft clay tiles which will make up the colourful glazed skin of the Beithir. She’ll protect us and bring our community together on the canalside here in the North of Glasgow.The Beithir in Scottish mythology, is a lightning serpent, one of the fuatha, the family of mythical monster that include the Kelpies who reside at the other end of the Forth and Clyde Canal.You’ll have a chance to explore the ongoing community led artworks being installed around the spectacular engineering of Stockingfield Bridge. Bring a picnic and visit the surrounding canal pathways, the Claypits nature reserve all the way from the city centre to Lambhill Stables and beyond along the Forth and Clyde Canal. Come by foot, peddle, scooters, and public transport.The canal site is fully accessible at pavement level from Currie Street in Ruchill. On street parking also available here.This will be a drop in activity to make 3 tiles per person. Spaces will be allocated a place on arrival based on how busy we are and what the weather allows us to do outside.We're grateful for the World Cycling Championships, Glasgow Life Artists in Communities, Scottish Canals and Sustrans for their support for these community making activities.
