MYO Bangle and OR Ring - Creating a design in metal can be very therapeutic and lots of fun – if a little bit noisy!! This workshop is for anyone who is interested in creating some unique pieces of jewellery. Come for the morning – or stay for the day!

I will provide the tuition – you decide on the design, from simple and classic or more ornate – you choose!

An opportunity to create up to 2 pieces of jewellery, while learning some basic skills… just the beginning to get you hooked!

You can have FUN with Copper and Brass – OR if Silver is more your style you can work in 925 Recycled sterling silver (for an additional charge of £5-22 depending on how much you use - payable on the day).

Using your chosen wire, you will be taught how to bend and manipulate the metal into wonderful shapes and designs. Learning techniques such as sizing, filing, hammering, forming to shape and finishing to create up to 2 beautiful pieces unique to you. NB: NO heat sources (ie soldering) will be used in this workshop.

Designs will be created using simple tools and mandrels to create the work.

During the 2 hour workshop you will learn how to:

  • Cut wire to size
  • Bend and manipulate wire
  • Ring and bangle sizing
  • Mark making and texturising with various tools supplied
  • Stamping into the metal to create letters or shapes using tools
  • Filing and simple polishing the metal
  • Good practice / techniques of stamping and jewellery making

Additional pieces to create may be purchased during the workshop if time allows. NB; A basic set of your own tools will be provided, as well as a selection to be shared across the group. Creating a great opportunity to work, come together and have fun!

About Sarah

Studying at The Surrey Institute of Art and Design – I gained a BA 2:1 (hons) degree in 3D Design many years ago. Since then I have recently started my own business making jewellery and artwork in metal. My skills are mainly self-taught and an eagerness to learn and create forms that are unique and different in texture and design.

My workshops introduce good practices and focussing on the fun you can have with forming, mark making and texturizing in metal. Creating some truly amazing pieces. Though sometimes a bit noisy it can become quite therapeutic and even obsessive!

Hen Party / Birthday party/ Special Occasion? Wanting to simply try something different and learn a new skill… Workshops can also be provided at your home – all I will need is a strong table (which will be protected) and leave the rest up to me!! Please contact me direct for details or customisation of a workshop just for you.

Our local 'Coopers' - the crafters and makers that sell in the shop - also tend to offer workshops and activities in line with their skills at most of shops. This varies widely from learning basic craft techniques - crochet, decoupage, glasspainting - to making bath bombs, screenprinting and jewellery making - plus we love offering seasonal ideas like needlefelting pumpkins or making sustainable advent calendars!
