Making a Meadow
Join Karen Guthrie in the glorious fields at The Farmer's Arms and learn all about making a beautiful meadow - big or small.
Making a Meadow
Celebrate National Meadows Day by joining us at The Farmer's Arms, Lowick Green for a morning learning how to create and maintain your own meadow, whether you have a window box or a garden. This hands-on event will teach you all about seeds, preparing the soil, and maintaining your meadow (big or small) to attract bees, butterflies, pollinators, birds and small mammals. The workshop takes place beside the pub on The Farmer's Fields, 3 formerly sheep-grazed fields which we're diversifying into biodiversity-rich meadows.
The session is led by Karen Guthrie (Grizedale Arts' Head Gardener & teacher at The Farmer's Arms Gardening School), who has transformed 2 acres at Lawson Park (Grizedale Arts' artists' residency) from horse pasture to an exceptionally diverse meadow across the last two decades.
