Making Friends Showcase

Creativeworks London is one of four Knowledge Exchange Hubs for the Creative Economy funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) to develop strategic partnerships with creative businesses and cultural organisations, to strengthen and diversify their collaborative research activities and increase the number of arts and humanities researchers actively engaged in research-based knowledge exchange.TheCreativeworks London Festivalis a free, one-day event showcasing the findings from the CWL programme.

Tessa Whitehouse (Queen Mary University of London) and Emilie Giles (Codasign) will showcase creative technology work created by the young participants of the ‘Making Friends’ project. The project sought to explore historically-informed research questions about childhood friendships and technology through hands-on electronics-based creative activities. It generated wonderful outcomes in many formats including videos, photography, sound recordings, installations, interactive stories and  electronic textiles all produced by the children. 
We will be showcasing a selection of these artworks and invite you to drop in and see our work in action. A short film which depicts the workshops and our research process will be screened alongside the hands-on activities.
