Making History - The story of how peace was brought to Bosnia-Herzegovina

Delapré Abbey

For 12 months in 1995-6 Major Tom Mouat was part of the IFOR Joint Military Commission tasked with implementing the Dayton Peace Agreement to bring to an end the civil war in Bosnia. He was responsible for arranging mediation between the Former Warring Factions that ultimately resulted in a tripartite agreement for the exchange of territory between the parties, a key part of ensuring the implementation of the peace deal. This involved meetings with politicians, soldiers and warlords who had recently being trying to destroy each other. In recognition of his role in delivering the agreement, he was awarded the MBE. Tom is a well respected speaker and engaging speaker in his areas of expertise, and this is the first time he has visited us. This is a unique opportunity to hear first hand from someone who was there at the heart of things when history was being made.

<ul><li>These tickets are for personal attendance at the library at Delapre Abbey ONLY. Zoom attendees do not require a ticket.
</li><li>The talk is free to fully paid up members. Non-members can attend for £7:50, payable on the door, or you can join on the night (£15 single membership, £25 for family). Memberships can be taken out on the night to cover the meeting and the rest of 2022.
</li><li>Tea and coffee will be available in the Salon before the meeting. This is being arranged by the Delapre Abbey volunteers, and a donation box for payments will be provided.
</li></ul>
