Supported by Making Local Woods Work: a BIG Lottery fund project led by the Plunkett Foundation.

Join us for a unique opportunity to connect and learn with other people and woodland projects.

This event is open to anyone running or setting up a woodland social enterprise.

The event is set in the inspiring location of Garvagh Forest - providing an opportunity for tailored, in-depth conversation on the topics most important to you.

Draft Topics discussed will include:

• Woodland social enterprise – business models and community structures

• Well-being programmes in a woodland setting

• Woodland management and conservation

• Woodland products – making and selling

The day will take place mostly outdoors, with sessions around a fire, a shared lunch and a chance to walk, talk and listen. There will be some child friendly activities, supervised by qualified youth workers. Further information will follow about disabled access and local accommodation.

Draft Programme:

10.00-10.30 Arrival, registration and refreshments.

10.30 Welcome and introductions around the fire – Who is here? What do we want from today?

11.00 The story of Garvagh Forest. Guided tour exploring the site and its activities.

12.00 The story of Down to Earth’s woodland and green burial site. Questions, answers and discussion of key themes. Facilitated by Gill McNeill / James Orr from Down to Earth

12.45 Shared lunch.

13.45 Practical story telling workshop. Facilitated by Karin from Garvagh Development Trust.

Plus a chance to rest brains and continue conversations from the morning. Bring a hatchet, knife or anything else you wish.

14.45 - 16.00 Behind the scenes of woodland social enterprise: Examples of ownership, management, membership, community engagement and income generation.

16.00 – 16.30 Tea and cake.
