The School of art, architecture and designThe school is internationally recognised for its high quality teaching, excellent facilities and unique interdisciplinary opportunities. Learning through practice, playing with process and working with clients, students at the school gain real world experience in both individual and collaborative projects, engaging with professionals, communities and companies. There is a strong emphasis in our studios on socially engaged Architecture, Art and Design applied to both local and global contexts, and many projects focus on London. Our central London location also gives you easy access to the creative and cultural hub which surrounds the Aldgate Campus. Our many specialist facilities include wood and metal workshops, laboratories, TV and recording studios, editing suites, darkrooms and Metropolitan Works our digital manufacturing centre. Many of our students have exhibited at major international exhibitions and festivals and have won prestigious awards.

London Metropolitan University announces its new annual celebration of the makers, craft and innovations that contribute to London’s enduring reputation as one of the world’s great design capitals.Making London will explore the intersections between making, crafts and design in contemporary practice through a roster of speakers at the forefront of creative thought and innovation. With Q&A sessions and talks that complement the creative subjects taught at LondonMet’s Aldgate campus, the day will provide a platform for creative practitioners to share their experiences, insights, and inspirations, whilst discussing the impact of making on society.With roots stretching back to the late 19th Century, London Met’s School of Art, Architecture and Design is proud to show its enduring commitment to London’s creative economy and the power of London’s craft, design and making communities in this new annual event."We are excited to bring together a diverse group of designer makers for this symposium," said the event's organiser, Kaye Newman, Head of Design at London Metropolitan University. "Making is such an important part of our culture, and we believe that it has the potential to create positive social and economic change. This symposium will showcase the incredible work being done by makers in London and beyond, while inspiring others to get involved."The event is expected to attract a wide range of attendees, including makers, artists, designers, educators, students, and members of the public. The symposium is free and open to all, with registration available through the University.
