Making Matter is a series of exhibitions curated by Simone ten Hompel, Reader in Metal at London Metropolitan University, and hosted by CREATURE. Each exhibition provides an opportunity to interrogate the role of creative making as research inquiry. All featured artists are staff members of the School of Art, Architecture and Design at London Metropolitan University, reflexively interrogating their own practice, its embedded questions and methods, as well as the discoveries that these afford.

Now in its fifth edition, Making Matters continues to represent an important space where an ever-expanding community of practitioners/researchers show their thinking through there practice, by coming together, investigating and sharing their particular approaches through case study projects. The work spans all aspect of making across media, with a particular emphasis on art and design. Each project exhibited is accompanied by a statement clearly capturing the specific methodological framing of the work showcased and its research relevance within its field.
