Overview

Free one-day event exploring how building performance data closes the gap between design and delivery across Scotland.

"Making Measurement Mainstream” brings together industry, public sector and technical specialists to explore the growing role of building performance data in delivering healthy, energy-efficient homes.

Across both retrofit and new build, Scotland is seeing increasing expectations through evolving building standards, EPC reform and wider net zero commitments. Yet too often, buildings are still assessed and delivered based on assumptions, resulting in a persistent gap between predicted and actual performance.

This event focuses on how in-situ measurement of buildings, once occupied and in use, can transform how we design, specify and deliver projects. By understanding how buildings actually perform, we can improve quality, reduce risk, and ensure interventions deliver the intended outcomes for both occupants and clients.

For contractors, housing providers, developers and local authorities, this is becoming increasingly important. As funding, compliance and tenant outcomes come under greater scrutiny, the ability to evidence performance is no longer optional, it is becoming a core part of delivery.

The day will combine market insight, regulatory context and real-world case studies with practical demonstrations of measurement technologies. Attendees will gain a clear understanding of how measurement can be embedded into projects to improve quality, reduce whole-life costs and support better outcomes for occupants.
