MAKING PAPER

'Pulp' is a hand papermaking arts workshop based in WASPS factory Glasgow, which provides a range of services for experienced artists as well as those just beginning to explore this versatile medium. There are a variety of activities held within the space including evening, weekend and day courses. These focus on all aspects of hand papermaking, artist bookmaking and related media and aim to encourage creative participation from all walks of life with all levels of experience accommodated.The workshop provides supported access to specialist equipment that is exceptional in its professionalism and scale. There is always technical assistance available to ensure satisfaction from both the learning experience and the outcomes produced. Equipment at the workshop includes a 5lb Hollander Beater, large hydraulic press, large vats and various moulds for paper size up to 30” x 40”. Hanson Street studio offers more space, good accessibility and a comfortable working environment.     Alison Newman.

PULP: Paper Arts Workshop

This course is designed to be an introductory workshop and is suitable for beginners and those wishing to access the facilities.

This course is designed to be an introductory workshop and is suitable for beginners and those wishing to access the facilities to make quality handmade papers. After a brief introduction to the workshop layout and relevant Health and Safety, the day will be very much a hands-on experience trying out different fibres from across the world, such as Abaca, Mitsumata, Lokta and Cotton, while using a variety of traditional mould sizes to make paper.At the end of this course. you will have gained knowledge of the papermaking process, sheet forming experience, further creative possibilities with paper and have a selection of beautiful handmade papers. All materials and equipment will be provided, however, please bring some decorative items such as small leaves, threads, small drawings / images or text to individualise your outcomes. Essentially, please wear good, non-slip footwear throughout the day @ PULP.PULP is a specialised workspace dedicated to paper art and books - it is easy to access and a comfortable space to work in. Tea and coffee will be provided but participants are asked to bring their own packed lunch or there are shops around 8mins walk from PULP. Local free parking is available and this space is suitable for wheelchair users.
