Making Self-Catheterisation Easier: Practical Tips & Support
A Multidisciplinary Webinar for Fowler’s Syndrome & Urinary Retention
Fowler’s Syndrome UK are hosting a live, multidisciplinary webinar focused on the practicalities of self-catheterisation, led by Angela Rantell. This session builds on recent discussions around catheterisation and aims to address the real-world challenges many people face when learning and managing self-catheterisation.
Our research found that 89% of those with Fowler’s syndrome find it difficult to self catheterise. Many individuals are taught in pressurised clinical environments with limited time and support. This webinar will create space to explore more adaptable, realistic and supportive approaches.
Speakers & Contributions:
- Angela Rantell (Clinical Specialist Nurse): practical approaches, products, and process
- Clare Nicholson (Occupational Therapist): devices, aids, and accessibility
- Natalia Vasquez (Physiotherapist): Pelvic floor anatomy, positioning and physical function
- Caroline Selai: (Psychologist) psychological aspects, confidence, anxiety, trauma-informed care
What we’ll cover:
- Practical aspects of self-catheterisation in day-to-day life
- Common challenges and how people navigate them
- What helps (and what doesn’t) in practice
- Gaps in training and support
- Multidisciplinary approaches to improving patient experience
Who is this for?
- Individuals currently navigating self-catheterisation
- Those preparing to start
- Patients, carers, and those supporting someone with Fowler’s Syndrome
